Coach Katy Meyer came to Prescott and
Embry-Riddle from Flagstaff, Arizona in May of 2000. A walk-on
freshman turned team co-captain
and recipient of a full scholarship at Division 1 Northern Arizona
University; Meyer is a student of the sport of volleyball.
From
playing, to officiating, to coaching, Coach Meyer thrives on
what the sport of volleyball has added to her day-to-day life. "It
is the competition, camaraderie, and challenges, inherent in
the
team sport of volleyball, which initiated my decision to coach
full-time."
Since taking over at the head coaching position in Prescott, the
ERAU Women's Volleyball program has made positive and productive
strides. The 2003 season saw the Eagles finish with the 2nd best
in the program's history.
Meyer is a native of Arizona. Born and raised in Mesa, she has
resided in the communities of Wellton, Lake Havasu City, Peoria,
and Flagstaff. In May of 1996, Meyer married her best friend Peter
Anthony Meyer, a retired middle-school computer instructor in
the Flagstaff Public School District. Prior to accepting the head
coaching position at ERAU, Katy was a fully licensed financial
advisor for 6 years. Coach Meyer received her Bachelor of Science
in Business Administration from Northern Arizona University in
1992.
Finally, Coach Meyer actively involves herself with youth, city-
and state-wide. Alongside her husband, Katy has administered
two
USA Volleyball Juniors Clubs – Yavapai Juniors and Peaks
VBC.
